Abstract: This work studied the socio-economic impacts of sand and gravel mining activities in Nsugbe, Anambra State Nigeria. The work is hinged on the concept of sustainable development. Questionnaire was randomly administered to generate the data used. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data while the one tailed Z-test was used to test the two hypotheses postulated. The result of the first analysis showed that there is a significant social impact associated with sand and gravel mining in Nsugbe, while the second analysis revealed that there is a significant economic impact associated with sand and gravel mining in Nsugbe. The work showed that sand and gravel mining activities impacted significantly on the environment, leaving behind so much social and economic scars that the government needs to look into.
